Car cuts out under acceleration

When accelerating my car cuts out usually at about 3,000 rpm, I notice that the radio distorts and my tach jumps up and down about 500 rpm both ways I think it is an ignition problem what should I look for???

Hi Chris,
My car had a clogged catalitic conveter and it wouldn't go over 3200 rpms. I would start at your distributor and check for cracks, it sounds like your arching somewhere, that could cause radio interference.

Chris,

Don't overlook the coil and ignition primary wiring as well as the plug and coil wires.
