A few noob valvetrain questions..
Ok guys, I have been all over the city and the net looking for stuff for my car, but I keep getting different stories.
What I want to know is: Is my cam roller or not? (I dont have center bolt valvecovers, so I dont think it is.) Is this the 'peanut cam' everyone hates? What are good starter upgrades? I was thinking of getting some 1.6 roller rockers and some new springs (dont know what kind though) and I also dont know if I'd have to replace the lifters if I did this..
A little help, please?
Btw, it's a Canadian 86 Trans am LG4 700R4 with no computer controls.

If it is the 86 motor, then no it's not a roller
It's the flat-tappet version of the peanut cam.
As always, the first upgrade for a car equipped with that motor, should be the exhaust, all the way from the heads to the street; BUT NOT FOR LG4. Any piece that bolts to any piece that's already there, will preserve the LG4 bottleneck.
After that, the cam; after that, gears; then head porting. Somewhere along there you need to lose the single-snorkel intake.

No.
Yes.
Full exhaust using TPI for the part no.'s (ie. but exhaust for an '89 350 TPI) (like RB said).
Not yet... no.
An 1896 T/A? That's something you don't see everyday (fix it in your sig
).

Ok, well I am looking for an l69 intake, so that will probably happen pretty soon. As for the exhaust, I'm saving for headers (2055s probably) and I have the rest taken care of already.
I think what I'll do is get the headers next, and then get my 350 in there and save the valvetrain upgrades for that. Thanks for the help guys.
