whats this extra coolant plug hole drilled for?
ok the title may be confusing but I dont know how else to title it .
anyways, after swapping intake manifolds I noticed that at the front of the manifold, theirs two holes tapped into the coolant passage.. for the coolant temp sensor and the feed line from the heatercore..
now on my new edelbrock manifold, I see theirs a third hole drilled to the left of the coolant temp sensor.. what could this be for? I had to take an old broken coolant temp sensor to plug it for now.. but is thier any use i could make of it?

When I have an extra threaded hole to plug I like to use stainless pipe plugs that take a allen wrench to tighten them, looks a lot better than the plain galvanized square headed plugs.

Edelbrock manifolds are designed to work in a wide array of applications. You'll often end up with a hole or two (or three!) that needs plugging. I second Dart's suggestion for aftermarket plugs- they look a lot better than the galvanized stuff from the plumbing supply shop! Check with you local speed shop for them.

its a 180 degree coolant from hypertech so im sure that will make up for it. thanks, ill do that tomorrow, and from the side of the head.. should i plug that up? is that a coolant passage or just a hole drilled into the head?

The '85-88 intakes have sensors for coolant temp and a cold start sensor for the ninth injector, plus the core tap, IIRC.
I'd plug the one on the manifold... actually I did on my big mouth manifold.

you say i should leave the hole pluged on the manifold and have the fan switch plugged into the head? even considering the wires like to burn up on the headers?

I never had a problem with the wire burning up with headers... well, not that wire.
I did have one connector crumble, but at almost 20 years old, it's kind of expected.
