I go an Edelbrock RPM Q-jet manifold that I am trying to install. I though it would be pretty straight forward but I ran into a problem. On the edelbrock intake there is no hole for the fitting with the green top. Do I have to tap a hole out for it? And on the edelbrock intake, what is the hole to the right of the thermostat for??? Any help is appreciated.

Thanks. Anyone out there no the size? I guess I just have to buy a fitting to block the other hole.

How much do you guys think tapping and threading the hole is going to cost at a machine shop? I tried to call around but the ones I called were closed. Hopefully they will be open tommorow.

just go buy a tap and die set, drill and tap your hole and return the set. Costs you nothing.

That's really scummy, besides he needs a pipe tap and most tap and die sets that I have seen don't have pipe taps, it looks like it may be a 1/2" pipe thread.

That cannister purge valve is either 3/8" pipe, or ½" pipe, I forget which. It's tapered pipe thread, not a bolt size.

Take it to the hardware store and compare it to the pipe sizes you see there, and get the tap that matches, and the drill that goes with that tap.

That setup will not be CA legal as it does not accomodate the EGR valve.

Why is that scummy? He's a kid whos obviously broke or he wouldnt even be asking what it costs. He doesnt have a chain store around there that makes a bazillion dollars a year. Ive dropped at least 5 grand at the local parts place over the last decade, they can afford to loan me a tap for a few hours. I guess you'd prefer it going to your pocket, judging by your occupation. Try not to be too biased.

Could he use the hole on the right side of the t-stat housing and maybe buy an adaptor to change the thread size?

well said i do it all the time thats why they have money back garantee's on there tools when i go to the wrecking yard and need special tools i just buy em and return em when im done works great!

I was just asking what it cost to compare it to what the machine shops here were asking. I went out to some hardware stores to get a tap but they were out of the size I needed. I may try and do it myself but I dont want to mess it up lol. A guy at Lowes said the size was a 3/8 pipe thread. Thanks for the idea blacksheep If Home depot or something is open tommorow I will see if I can find something that matches.
