unmountet starter. found fragments of a bearing in there....
hello,
i disassembled my starter today because it wont turn the motor anymore. and thats what i found in there...


could it be the "release bearing" (dont know the word
)

Hard to say....
Go compare what's left of your starter, to the one you're about to buy; and see what's different. Maybe some of it's still stuck to the starter. Maybe some of it fell out on the ground somewhere. I can't see it quite well enough from here to tell any of that. All I can tell is, your Bendix came to pieces.

It is the piece with the teeth on the end that slides along the motor shaft.
The ball bearings came out of the wide silver-colored ring that's right next to the teeth. That's a one-way clutch system, that's supposed to connect the teeth to the shaft, but allow it to spin faster than the shaft if necessary (like when the engine starts running but the starter is still engaged). No doubt you can just grab the teeth part and just spin it in either direction now, with little or no resistance.

The backside doesn't look undamaged, from what little can be seen in your photo.
One side gets pushed over, the guts fall out, then it re-centers.
