305 boring

Sooo... A person said the the maximum a 305 can be bored to is .060..

What what you guys say the cid would be on this engine as that is what mine is - a 305 bored to .060. Id say 383 er something like that.

Do the math, people can't always hold you hand. About 315 cid.

Its not ever worth boring or rebuilding a 305, don't do it.

I would say "do the math".

Not to be snide, but come on now. We've been over, and over, and over this.

Area of the base times height times number of cylinders. Bore squared divided by 4 times pi times stroke times 8.

3.796 times 3.796, divided by 4, times 3.14159, times 3.48, times 8.

You punch in the numbers.

Add this in your equation: you will get 0 noticable horsepower from boring an engine.

So that would be:

305 x .060 = Stupid

Sounds about right to me.

Wont upset me by saying it, I will agree that he fox body is a better platform for modding. But that doesnt mean it isnt ugly as hell.

There are some fast mostly stock 302's Guy around here has a mustang that runs mid 13's with just some minor bolt-on mods. Runs low 11's with juice. All that with a stock T5. How that thing holds up is beyond me.

Although if you put a shorter stroke 302 in a heavy *** thirdgen, youd probably have less then stellar results...

A 305 MAY be able to accept a 60-thou overbore, or maybe not. It all depends on the integritty of the block casting. Some castings had the cooling jacket core centers lined up perfectly with the case core centers, some were off by several thousandths. Only a close inspection of the block will reveal whether it might be a candidate for a bore over +.040.

You can say whatever you want, Whether you are correct or not depends upon your grasp of rudimentary mathematics and some simple geometry.

And while you can say whatever you want, it isn't necessarily the case that you can say it wherever you want.
