Car not able to rev past 4 - 4500 rpms?
I just bought a 1992 Camaro RS 3.1L V6 with 175,000 miles. When i floor the pedal, it will rev up to about 4 - 4500 rpms and just acts like it hit a wall. The only thing thats done mechanically is MSD wires, Crane Cams cam (not for sure which), and it still has the cat. on it. with the stock muffler system. Any idea's? Thanks For any help.

Fuel pressure might be dropping at WOT. I don't know much about the 3.1's, when mine took a dump I got sick of it and dropped a v8 in.

Nope, a few months back (6 months actually) it never did it when i was looking into buying it. Back then it'd goto about 5500 rpms and shift. Now it revs up to 4500 or so and just kinda hangs there.

Does it bounce, like a rev limiter will make it do?

Not like a rev limiter. Just like the whole car freezes. Tach and everything just hits a wall. No bouncing. Sometimes if it revs. It revs really slow.

Any codes? If you have an a/f guage, or tap into the o2 sensor with a multimeter, maybe you can see if it's leaning out from no fuel pressure or something...

umm I'm not really sure. You're going to have to get help from someone else on that one. I would imagine it would, but only if it's collecting the right information...

well, if it's cold out I bet your guage is off. get the lap top and see for your self
then you will know if it is a guage problem first then you can go from there

Well, thats the thing i had kind of wondered about. It has a crane cams cam in it and he said he used the stock valve springs. When i talked to him he said it had started doing all this about a month after he installed the cam. Which made me wonder if the cam is putting a little extra stress on the springs? Going to hook it up to the laptop tonight.
