tpi harness question

tpi harness question

im swapping my carb for a tpi and my car is a T-5, the donor car is an auto. is it possible to use a tpi harness from the automatic on my t5.

Yes, the only mod you'll have to do is wire the backup lights.

You'll also want to get an electric speedo, and wire that to the ECM, and use a manual prom.

Worked for me.......Only thing i remember there was an issue w/ the VSS .

alright, cool. my next question is what options do i have as far as proms. can i get just ANY manual prom? im goin to guess it has to be at the very least a V8 prom... but other then that....

It needs to be a prom that was originally from the same displacement engine, even if you reprogram it.

alright so it has to be a 5.0L prom. does it matter if its from a carbed car or not?

If you are running a 165 ecm(used on 86-89 F bodies), it has to be out of a 165 ecm. Same thing goes if you are using a 730 (used on 90-92 F bodies). They will not interchange. Depending on the year prom you use, you may need to disable VATS or make a couple of tweaks to make things right, but its not a difficult thing to do.

The carbed cars never used either of those ecms, so no, it will not interchange.
