The fastest 3rd gen ever

I saw a show on Speedvision about this car.
First production car to break 300 mph at Bonneville. Done in a 92 Firebird.

Twin Turbo 1100 HP small block. Now that's what I'm talking about. That car is a sled. They put over 2000 lbs of balast in the car so it wouldn't fly. I love the way the doors still open and close and the power windows still work on a racecar. That's just too funny.

Hell yeah, I hate the 5/405. They are right by my area...the 91 never fails to make me go 5mph either.

This speed record was for stock body. I don't know what other rules were imposed. Maybe running a small block was part of it. I don't know.

Since this is a tech board....

What kind of mods were done to the suspension of that thing?

I wonder if he used stock tranny mounts...

I read the article on the car. They think they would go faster if they had a faster push truck. At the time they had a stock Dodge Ram. They were still accelerating at the end of the run.
