K&N Oil Filter

For a SBC.

I believe the standard size is HP2002.

Is the HP3002 just a longer version of the HP2002 (ie. similar to the Delco PF35L)

Thanks

You are correct. the HP-2002 is the same height as the AC-Delco PF-25 (short) filter, and the HP-3002 is the equivalent to the PF-35 (long) filter. The K&N filters are highly recommended no matter which size you intend to use.

The K&N is a good filter, but I'd rather buy the 4 AC Delcos that you could get for the price of 1 K&N.

Wow, you shop in the wrong stores.

Most of the Delco filters are about $8 around here, the K&N is close to $30.

The long K&N was $16 at Crap Tyre which is across the street from my office. Wasn't worth the difference to drive somewhere in Toronto (which is a schithole) tomorrow and get the Delco as both filters are adequate. I think the K&Ns are about $10 when they go on sale.

Where are you guys buying your oil filters, we sell the AC filters for around $3 at Advance Auto, and the K&N at around $11

I used to use Wix Racing filter exclusively until I was at an out of town race and needed a filter for an oil change, they had K&N. I was sold the NEXT time I changed oil and was able to use the built in nut on the bottom of the filter to remove it...makes life soo much easeir.

Does anyone know what kind of filtering media the K&N, Wix and ect. use? How many microns does it filter down to?

I'm using an AC PF35L exclusively right at the moment because it's the only filter I know the specs on (synthetic media, filters to 12 microns), but I can't seem to find the specifications on the other filters anywhere.

I'd gladly make the switch to another filter if it bested these specs, but until I find them I will be sticking with the AC filter.

This is the filter that I have used for many years. Let the flames begin.

That thing is huge. Have you ever ripped the bottom off of your filter by bottoming out?

Well, at least that thing's big enough to compensate for the pressure drop through Fram's crappy filter media.

What took you guys so long. Last time I posted that pic it wasn't 5 min. to get a neg. responce. I use to use the std. size Fram oil filter and have tryed many other filters and never noticed any change in my oil pressure?? I have a 150 shot of NOS, shift at 5800 rpm and have 10.3 to 1 comp. I have over 50000 miles on this engine (soon to be a 406) and have gone through a couple bottles of juice each summer (addictive) and have never had a problem. Go figure??

Cut all the popular filters open.....you may be suprised. Fram
is just poo-poo. Top of the heap is the Delco PF35l and the
Hastings brand.....I sell Wix, and it's about 4th for quality, about
the same as the K&N, IMHO.

Agreed. The orange Frams are absolute crap. The only decent Fram is their X2 model.

K&N are excellent. So are Mobil1, Wix, Napa Gold, AC Delco, and PureOne.

Very informative, shame Hastings wasn't on the list (Hastings has
the only all-cotton element on the market).

How are bosch filters? I used to run that on my g/f's old metro. I assumed it was in the middle between stp and mobil 1 filters
