Low Speed Vibration

I just recently took out my Vig convertor and replaced it with my stock one. My problem is that now the idle seems rough and when I get on it out of the hole there seems to be a vibration during the first couple hundred rpm's.
It didn't do this with the Vig in and I'm sure it wasn't doing this before when I had my stock one.
Anyone have any idea?

Bob

Does this sound like the convertor staying locked up. It idles like crap now and when I tapped the brakes while driving at highway speed it didn't seem to unlock.
How else can I determine if this is the problem?

Bob,

You could try to disconnect the TCC and drive it again. If the TCC is not unlocked, you won't be able to keep the engine running while standing still in gear.

It will run while in gear, it does idle low and rough though. Could be a miss at low rpm but what would cause this just by changing convertors?

A tighter stock converter will lower the idle speed. It will slip less and lug the engine more that a loose converter and slower speeds.

Once, along time ago, I swapped the tranny in my 68 Camaro Convertible. On the way back to Florida I got a terrible vibration, felt like the engine was going. Turns out I had about a 1/4" gap were the tranny bolts to the engine on one side. I sweated for over 700 miles thinking the bottom end was ready to let go when It was my fault for not properly mating the tranny to the engine.
Just one possibility. I also had a vane collapse in my 91 Z28's torque converter. Gave me a vibration at 70 mph and again at 110mph. Doubt that's your problem though.

Problem solved. Are you ready for this--a burnt plug wire. That's right I was basically running on 7 cylinders. That's a good way to make it idle like crap and run like a slug.
Thanks for all your suggestions.

LOL - i hate when ya think your car is falling apart and you're ready for the engine to blow only to find out its something that simple. I thought my engine was knocking one time and i thought 'well, crap - its finally given up'. Later, I found out that my A/C compressor bracket was a little loose and was rattling...Another time, I thought my rear end was going out because the car would lurch off the line and it felt like someone was dropping a bowling ball in the trunk. Then I found out my motor mounts were shot and allowing the engine to jump up...
