just about as hard as a 305 rebuild. lol
just messin man
you dont need special tools except a pulley puller for the balancer.

then its just sockets and a torque wrench. if you rebuild it to stock specs you wont have a clearance problem

partly it depends on how deep in to it you want to get. you could buy a complete machine shop to build engines or farm out the work to a local machine shop like most normal people do. i like to do my own measureing so i need mics, indicators, snap gauges, and a bore gauge. most people get by with plasti gage. you'll also need a ring compressor, ring installer tool, puller and installer for the dampner. buy a book or manual and read it to get a better understanding of what's required.

I don't know if they're still around, but there used to be a place called K&S Auto in North Tonawanda... Like an autozone, except they had a machine shop too. They used to do a good job for a reasonable price. Give them a call and they can probably give you an estimate over the phone for the common stuff.

First thing is to get the bible.
"How to Hot Rod the Small Block Chevy"

Anyone getting into engine building, this is a must have.

I even suggest it to my Honda buddies for general reading about engines.

Arawn1: Where in Welland are you from? My girlfriend lives in Fonthill. I've spent a fair amount of time harrasing the locals in my thirdgen there. Nice town you live in.
