could tapping sound be a rocker issue?

I have a tapping sound from the engine bay (I'm pretty sure its a lifter) but i know that the rockers were changed a while back and they were never re-adjusted...could this tapping sound be fixed by adjusting the new rockers? thanks (ya, i know its probably a tech/general post/question but my car is a TBI so why not keep the post within our own TBI group?, hehe )

The LO3 is no different from any other SBC . And besides, youll get more views in the Tech/Gen. engine .

dude i had that noise and while it could be a lifter mine comes from my AIR pump, i litteraly blew it at the track pulling too many rpms, like 5750 in second trying manual shifting, dont do that by the way. i still havent removed it but it ticks like a mother, you can hear it inside the car and its slowing me down.
my goal is to get back to the 15's with it on and remove it.

just a thought but if you can afford the spare serpentine belt try skipping the air pump, might save some time.

You need to plug the holes on the manifold. Then maybe you will be able to hear the ticking noise a little better. SOmetimes an exhaust leak can make a ticking noise

what about the rocker arms?...is it true that new rocker arms need to be adjusted after time?....could this possible cause any type of ticking sound?

Absolutely, just pull your valve covers off and check them, grab ahold of the rockers and see if there is too much movement, you should be able to move them very much. Bump the engine over then check them a few at a time
