Try spraying throttle body cleaner into the throttle body and around the throttle plate. A friend's 87 TPI formula did the same thing and we dowsed it good with cleaner and it took care of it.

I would add to the above. Yes, douse the throttle plates with cleaner, hold the open by hand and shoot cleaner n beyond them a little. Then take a rag and wrap it around your finger, holding the throttle full open with the other hand, wipe down both sides of the throttle plates and the inside of the body where the plates sit. There will be a ton of black crap from the EGR. This crap builds up and forms a ridge, you need to knock that down.

Check for vacuum leaks.

Axle/Gears: I'm working on it,lol.
I'd check the following:
1. Vacuum leaks
2. Change the fuel filter. It might be clogged.
3. Check the spark plugs, wires and cap.

I gave up took the car to a good repair shop now it has had plugs, cap, rotor, mapp sensor, 02 sensor, IAC checked cleaned adjusted, a new distributor, new ignition module, base timing set, fuel pressure checked, egr system checked, no vaccum leaks found, tested with a new ECM, then they thought it might be the prom so they ordered the correct one no improvement, checked grounds, checked ecm conectors. car runs great now until it goes into closed loop then it has a midrange miss it seems like and when driving in say 2nd gear and 3rd it surges pretty bad and sometimes still dies when I push in the clutch at a light. please someone anyone help me thanks sean.

Sounds like an E.G.R. valve problem.
