Governors?

OK, I have an 88 Iroc with the 5 speed, and i just replaced the rear from a 3.08 to a 3.45. I wanted to see what kind of top end I lost and it seems like when I am in 5th gear @ 3500 the engine cuts out on me untill I go just under it. Anyway, my question is, do we have a governor and how would I override it?

What size rims and what speed rating were the stock tires? Are you running a factory bin in your PROM?

While playing with PROM stuff, I have found that a lot of 5 speed cars have a 125mph speed governer. I am not really sure, but it seems to have a correlation with if they had the 15" wheels and S or T rated tires from the factory... Either way, a quick peak at your bin, off of the current PROM you have, will tell you if you have a top speed governer and what speed it is set at, if it exists.
