im just wondering,mine is on the driver side.

mine is on the drivers side to. it is the ole Iron Duke. it looks exactly like a V8 starter except a mirror image.

Thats probably because the iron duke is litterally half of a 301 Pontiac V8

I never knew the 4 banger was a Pontiac engine, I always heard it called the Iron Duke which is what the 4 cyl. in the old Chevy II was called so I just assumed it was the old engine updated some, but I think it was 153 ci. and the newer version is a 151 ci. That old engine was a good engine, a friend of mine swapped one into a 4-speed Vega after it's aluminum engine blew, added a small cam and headers and that thing would haul pretty good.
