Make it stop :(

So heres my issue of the week

If I accelerate to quickly theres a big CLUNK! in the tranny area, it seems. And if I do a tail whip around a corner it goes from clunk to a grinding on the transmission well. Thats what it feels like at least.

What the hell can this be its really annoying

Trany mount, almost 100% sure. These things break way too easily on these cars. Try putting a jack under the tailshaft of the trans, you will probably find it will lift right off of the crossmember.

Grab a new mount, A poly mount is a bit stronger and prefered. Im not sure about pricing in your area but you should be able to pickk up a poly mount for under $30.

I have broke 3 of these friggen mounts this summer

The second time it broke i made up a chain that goes through the mount and around the x-member to try and save my drivetrain and floor.

Almost with these cars!

If your running a stock or semi-stock car it wont be as bad.

With my semi-healthy 350, TH-350 trans w/shift kit and 4:11 gears in the back im a little hard on stuff.

I cant imagine how bad this things going to be with a blown 383 twisting that driveline.

Edit: yes, poly urethane mounts except for the first time it was the original rubber mount from 84!

Take it real easy if you plan on driving it, let that tranny jump up too many times and youll have alot bigger bill.

just FYI, notice the torque arm on the back of your trans that runs to the diff? If your trans goes up that will twist your rear end too, really putting the driveline out of wack.

i managed to drive on my broken trans mount for a good 2 weeks before doing something...it got worse and i was not gonna wait any longer in the period i was hard a few times but it was mainly like too much gas from a stop it sounded terible. Till i posted on TGO i was hopeless...

I was lucky...i thought at the time my tranny was done for.

If you wanted to go real ghetto for the week you could tie it down with a chain or rope, just incase that foot gets a bit too heavy it wont bash apart everything.

When I pulled my V6, i'd had a progressively worse *CLUNK!*. The tranny mount itself was ok, but the bushings between the 2 parts of the crossmember were gone on the driver's side.
