What the heck is an e-ring?
The shop told my brother he needs the e-ring replaced on his honda to stop his coolant leak or something. Now I've heard of o-rings and I've heard of e-clips. But what the heck is an e-ring??? Are they making this up? Hondas are freaks...

Elastomer ring? (Rubber ring)
I know that many engines use elastomeric seals instead of gaskets on thermostat housings. GM started this by at least the early '90s on some engines.
Just a guess...

Vader, you're probably right. If I remember correctly it had something to do with the thermostat. They started out telling him it would cost him $250, but he talked them down to $65. And this was at the Honda dealership!
