Harmonic damper removal
Im trying to remove this piece, as im getting ready to dissassemble the short block.
Is there a special tool needed, cause the damper wont come off.

it's call a "harmonic balancer remover" can be rented at any parts store typically. don't hammer it off with a 2x4 and a hammer like i've seen done before.

Your local Canadian Tire will lend you the tool. You pick it up at the parts counter and pay for it, and they refund the full price when you return it.
You need a different tool to re-install the balancer though, and they don't have a loaner for it. You can make one yourself easily enough though.

gotcha APEIRON! I rented that tool at C-tire about a week ago, it's the "harmonic balancer removal AND installation tool".
the 3 pronged puller guy gets it off, then there's a stud that goes into your crank snout, connects to a bigger stud, and you put the balancer up to it, then tighten a giant nut that helps push it on. Works well.
