Lift = how much the cam is going to move the valve, this is limited by the height of the valve guide on the head. usually stay around .45 or less for stock heads.

lobe = the oblonged shaped part of a camshaft

duration = the timing in relation to the crankshaft in which the exhaust and intake valves will open/close

Head chamber CC'c = exactly that, the volume of the heads chamber measured in CC's. To select the right sized chamber you will have to calculate your compression ratio in which you will need to know piston specs and a few other goodies.

Hope that clears up a few things for you.

Edit: You can find a compression ratio calculator here : http://www.csgnetwork.com/compcalc.html

If you want, when i get home i can send you this neat little calculator program that will tell you your static and dynamic CR.

Here's a good cam info link
Cam Science

These articles are on Mopar heads, but the general principles apply to all - and it's about as good as free info gets.

You can buy a very good book on all this from many Speed shops or online from Amazon.com: Online Shopping for Electronics, Apparel, Computers, Books, DVDs & more

The author is David Vizard. The book is called "How to build Max Performance Chevy Small Blocks on a Budget!" Best $10 you'll spend on the subject.

You can also find much of what you're after in your local Public Library.
Search the "Subject" and the "Title" card catalog(s) for Hot Rod, Hot Rodding, Internal Combustion Engine(s) "High Speed Internal Combustion Engine(s)"

You can also google " camshaft lift", "duration", "duration @ .050" "lobe separation" "Overlap". Compression ratio, among other search terms. Just remember that the N-E-T stands for "not entirely true".
