car stalls when braking hard

Hey, my 82 Camaro seems to wanna die when I brake hard, and if I slam on the breaks n come to a dead stop or near a stop, it does die. What could this be related to?

right off the bat two things that come to mind. Vacuum problems or the carb is losing fuel when the motor slams to a stop.

Its possible the fuel is sloshing around in the carb and not getting picked up to go to the jets when you come to a violent stop.

That or when you need that strong break power the brakes use vacuum off your manifold for the power brake unit and you may have a vacuum leak somewhere.

if their was a vacum problem, would it also make the car run a little rough? I find that if im cruisin along at 60km/h and I let of the gas a bit, to were im just a bit under maintaining 60, it starts to sputter and stuff. Could that be connected? Its like you always have to go about half throttle or it will hesitate n sputter. Its a new Holley 670 avenger carb, so that shouldnt be the problem.

Also another thing. Does your 82 have overdrive with a locking convertor? If so, it could be sticking locked, which will stall the car once you stop.

Check your carb float level. They are most likely adjusted too low.

I also think you have a vacuum leak, probably near your brake booster.
