Cam choices

I think I have my cam choices narrowed down for my build. I wanted some opinions/suggestions.
383 roller
AFR 195's 76cc with spring upgrade(if I ever get 'em!)
HSR
58mm TB
5.7 H-beams, forged Eagle 3.75 crank,SRP flat tops 5cc reliefs
eagle splayed caps
30# svo's
700r4 with stall speed
3.73
100-150 shot to be added later
with a zero deck,4.125 headgasket.039 compressed I'm getting about a 9.7 CR(according to KB)
Now the cams,
1: The proven cc306(many guys running this)

2: Comp says the 280 xfi
230/236 @.050
.576/.571 gvl
1.6 RR
113 LSA
109 IC @ 4 deg adv.

3: Lunati 54756
232/242@.050
510/525 gvl
1.5RR
110 LSA
106 IC @ 4 deg adv.
Which of these cams would be the best choice,if any,or a suggestion? Not a daily driver(obviously) just a weekend street monster. Thanks

The Comp Cams 280XFI has more area of lift under the curve. That is the one I would go with. Be sure to use the beehive valve springs and the 1.6 rr Pro Magnum rocker arms. Also get the stiffest pushrod you can find. I went with the Terry Manton number four series. In fact I got the #404's.

well, the lunati will have more lift with the 1.6 rockers as well, lift was mentioned there at 1.5. But still, comp's has the higher LSA, which will be nicer for the HSR. I'd go for the comp one.
Perhaps even one step larger in cam, since it's not a daily driver, might want more HP out of the beast. But I think that comp cam will match the combo very well.

You said 700-R4, with stall speed....? What's the stall speed?

I was looking towards a 2200-2500 stall. I don't want to go real high in stall, alittle less even. I don't feel like screaming when I'm leaving the line.

stock is something like 1700RPM, and you know pretty well how that feels driving around right? 2200RPM is barely worth getting, it's so close to stock.

I think for any of those cams, 2500-3000RPM is probably needed. But don't trust me on automatic tranny questions, i'm usually fulla chit...

One step bigger according to comp is a 292/300 @ .050,.584/.579 gvl 1.6 rr,113 lsa with a 2700 stall. How much of a difference would I see between the two? Anybody have DD that can plug these #'s in so I can get some theoretical hp/tq #'s?

I think you'd see a bit of HP, maybe 15HP, I can't say, but the driveability would definately be starting to suffer there. In hindsight, I think the cc306 is a good choice, since you're not hitting up the strip all the time.
But seriously, ask comp about a recommended stall speed. 292/300 and 2700RPM stall sounds like too low of a stall... That's just me though.

How would drivability suffer?Vacuum loss, poor idle etc. With a good tune,I would think most drivability issues could be solved. Why the change to the 306? What do you think about the cc306 with a 1.6 brining it to 544/576 instead of a 1.5 510/549? I'm just trying to get some opinion as to what cam to put in this motor so I don't have to do it twice.

I think the comp version of the 306 is good, the higher lsa will help with poor idle, etc. With a 383 and 230/236, and that high LSA, I think you'll be sitting pretty. I'm not sure about the 292/300, can't compare directly without the @.050 numbers, but i'm guessing it'd be less than friendly, in the reasons you mentioned.
Also, think of your RPM limit, a hydraulic roller won't want to go that high anyway, so no point in shooting for a huge cam to optimize the RPM you'll never want to hit anyway. The 1.6 rockers would be just fine, don't use cheeseball stamped roller tips like I did, the comp pro magnums would be good though.
