World or Dart block

Just wanted to get an opinion on which block is better, from those who have or had either block. Been doing a little research before I buy and the prices are pretty close. Just needed to hear from those who can speak of the ins and outs of each. Thanks.

I'm not sure about the SBC blocks but for BBC the Big M (Dart) block is better than the Merlin (World) block.

A couple of years ago I purchased a set of heads for my firebird from World. I waited almost four months. I personally will never buy their products again.

easy xpndbl... You can wait as long as you want for your parts. I got better things to do.

What heads are you using? If I remember right, the coolant passages on the SBC World blocks aren't compatible with AFR SBC heads, oddly enough. Some of the coolant passages on the outter edge of the block deck are larger than stock, and the AFRs don't completely cover them up. There was a post with pictures about this a few months back.

I remember this too. It seems like if you use the World block you have to use only World heads.

Havent checked on this thread for awhile. I hadnt heard all that about the world stuff very interesting. I am running AFR's, so that steers me away. When I was ordering my AFR's, they were on back order for 10 weeks. But the salesman told me about a Chevrolet dealership here in oregon that just got a shipment from AFR. So I called and they got like 10 sets of heads on the shelf and I got mine in a week. So anyway always ask about local distributors. Thanks for the input guys.
