GM

Get the one for a 78 Monte Carlo, El Camino, Malibu, etc. with a 305. It'll go into the driver's side of the pan.

Get the "gauge and tube assembly" for the same application at the same time.

oil pan w/dipstick below pan rail

I have one, but don't have the matching dipstick and tube. The Chevrolet
parts guy said they were obsolete and no longer available from GM. You can
buy an adapter block which allows you to use the 1980-1985 305 pan or you
could space your manifold away from the head with a spacer which looks like
a header flange. Goodson company sells both of these parts. Your favorite
automotive machinist probably has a Goodson catalog if you can't find it on
the internet.

Hmmm.... it's been a few years since I had to buy one of those setups.... guess I better hold onto the ones I have then....

Also, check another dealer.

skip the middle man and email the sales dept of someone who makes oil pans.

No one sells pistons n rings for Viragos anymore but few emails to totalseal and they made up what is neededand for only $18.50 a set

No catalog or parts seller could of ever done that. SOmetimes its best to go straight to the horses mouth.

Why not just buy an aftermarket dip-stick??? Get a flexible one from transdapt or similar company and then you can mount the top where it is out of the way and it should still leave lots of room under the manifolds for the rest of the assembly.
