Well, Ive never tried this (yet) but I was thinking about doing it till I found out I had the vaccum lines hooked up wrong.
Put a multimeter (resistance) on the MAP, hook up a section of new hose (tastes better) and suck on it. You should see the resistance change.
Again, I almost tried this but didn't. Try it at your own risk but please post results if you do.

I'm glad you saw the humor in that post. I was LOL while typing it. The real funny part is that I was actually going to do it. Thankfully, I found that I had plumbed the vac lines wrong.

Technically that ought to do it. You've gotta have power to it though. I'm not familiar with MAP, so I don't know if the engine needs to be running or not.
A more accurate test would be to measure its voltage whilst sucking on it, instead of its resistance. They do sell handheld vacuum pumps for just this purpose.

OK. Now I'm going to have to figure this out. I have a vac pump for vac forming small plastic parts for my RC airplanes... I'll try to find some time to replumb and test this stuff out. Don't hold your breath (pun intended).

Thanks for the link bobdole. I'll do some testing and add some resistance values to go with the voltage.
Thanks
Thanks
