are these heads worth a ****
i got these heads for free the number is 3998993 i know they are 76cc but how do they flow do they respond to porting?

they are basically garbage. The exact same as an 882 head, for the most part. they came on a lot of the low hp work van replacement motors. They can be ported, and cut for bigger valves and then then use domed pistons, etc. And when you get done spending lots of cash, you will realize it wasnt worth it. I usually give those heads away to people just to get them out of the garage when we do an engine swap on a smog engine.

They are worth less as heads, than as cast-iron. Someone actually ruined the iron by turning it into those. Hard to believe I know, but true.
I have actually paid somebody to come haul off piles that had some of those in it, just to get them out of my face, at various times... those, and 882s, and 624s, and 434s, and 2-barrel intakes, and various other useless cast-iron crap that found its way onto my property by being attached to something worthwhile, and took up residence. Kind of like cockroaches or something.

Pitiful, in stock form.
They are 305 heads with 1.84" intake valves.
However, with 1.94" valves and competent home porting, they can get up to the 220ish range; and mid-high 230s with professional porting. Their chambers end up quite a bit larger, usually 62-63cc or so, by the time they get to those flow numbers (unshrouding).

Best numbers ? Like best HP numbers you could get with 305 heads? Probably in the 350-370HP range. I think i'm in the 350HP range with my full on ported 416 heads.
I used my old 993 heads as practice for porting. Plus the 1.94 intake valves I stole and used in the 416 heads. Very nice.
