Solid motor mounts

This is a question i just cant seem to fine the answer on. When i swapped over to solid motor mounts, how much vibration should be felt in the cab of the car. A lot, or just minimal. Cause I'm gonna be really upset if the machine shop mis-balanced my 383 stroker i built around the same time. It's gonna suck.

Re: Solid motor mounts

for a street car you absolutly do not want solid mounts... now a race only car maybe... but you will still feel a pretty good amount of vibration...

Re: Solid motor mounts

Its pretty much turning into a race only car. I pretty much only pull it out of the garage every once and a while to go out on the street. So its def. not driven everyday.

Re: Solid motor mounts

mine shakes sooo bad that the car moves up and down probably an inch at a stoplight, definately can be felt everywhere, but I'm used to driving big lifted trucks with solid axles, so my camaro feels like a cadillac compared to them.

What he said. Might I suggest:poly mounts like I have on my setup? They limit the engine's movement to nearly none under hard acceleration but you will definately feel the power pulses as the cylinders fire as vibration.

it seems like it only vibrates real bad when you give it the gas. I just hope its not unbalanced

Re: Solid motor mounts

i run them on the street.. i swapped mine cause my filter would hit the hole i cut in the hood.. i dont bounce around too much.. its pretty much like a muffler under your seat.. my 03 s-10 with just a flowmaster 40 right after the cat vibes about the same as my TA.. no big problem.. you get used to it.. its fun when you go from rubber to solid and do the 4th gear powershift.. its like a surge..
