new cam for mostly stock L98 for more summer power?

mostly stock 87 formula 350TPI, centerbolt heads etc, but i want just alil more power to have fun with during the summer etc till i can get my dream 383 built. alil more power with out throwing a few grand at this thing.
mods so far...

fully ported plenum...portmatched for SLP runners
SLP runners
Air foil
custom ram air for my functional ram air II hood
ADJ fuel pressure regulator set to 50psi
Motorvation strip chip
Motorvation TB spiral spacer
march underdrive pullies
TB bypass
descreen MAF....soon gona get grannelli high flow MAF
Headman long tubes
custom tru dual 3" mandrel with xpipe and turndowns (seems after this i have a dead spot in power around 23-2700 rpms but 3000 and above it gets crazy power and loves to rev)
all suspension done and trans beefed up etc with 1800 stall
gona do a 383 swap once i save up 4500 for the motor but now i need more POWERRRRRR! im not gona do the TPI baseplate since im gona go with a HSR for the 383 and i was looking into a mild cam since i already have 1.6 aluminum roller rockers ready to go in. how much could i get with the stock heads since i know the stock heads and cam are killing my power(besides my stock TPI base)... if i do one of these cams? if i can do a cam im sure when i rip the TPI baseplate off i'll port the hell outa it like the plenum for more air. i'll prob use the 1.6 rockers if i can get away with the lift but idk how much lift the stock heads can take...anyone kno?

Ive got the first cam mentioned, w/1.5"s
pretty decent,mild.
The stock heads are 510/520,i believe, but not 100%.

how does it idle? any decent power increases? or was ur car not originally a 350TPI. wow they are capable of lift that high? hmmm

i wonder how much different the first cam is vs the stock L98 cam, i had the specs of the stock cam somewhere and how much power increase it will net over the stocker

Why dont you just put the 1.6's on and a HSR. That would give a nice gain, be easier to do, and save more money in the long run because it will go on the 383ci.

Re: new cam for mostly stock L98 for more summer power?

bc the HSR wont make more power than a TPI, with stock TPI heads and cam, the HSR will start making more power when the stock cam and heads give up. supposidly anyone who throws a HSR on a stock L98TPI engine ends up hurting power bc the heads and cam are a good match to the flow capabilites of the TPI.
there have been threads of ppl sticking HSR's on stock L98's and them being disgusted bc of the loss of power, altho upper RPM power was made. they say the HSR on a L98 is lot like an Lt1.

If its a lot like an LT1, which it is, then it will be faster. People who slow down are probably still shifting their car's at 5000 or lower, instead of 5500...Like an LT1.
And with the rockers, I am sure you will see a decent gain.

Mine came w the l98,tpi.
The cam is decent, mild tho.
Idles good,a little tint of lopey, but not a lot.
A good thing about the cam,is you can run it without custom tuning, but would benifit if done so.
I think i read here somewhere, the stocker was 420,or so.

Re: new cam for mostly stock L98 for more summer power?

keeping this one...wat did u mean my 420? is that lift of the stock cam?
hmm... when i say like a LT1 i meant as in it has no ***** off the line unlike a TPI would obliderate the tires before 4grand, not saying the LT1 doesnt have the advantage by allowin harder launches with less tirespin. maybe this is a good decision to go with the HSR. im gona be doing alot of highway driving and i feel like i dont have the ***** at 2700 at 80-85mph when i punch it. i kno fitment of the HSR is a pain in the *** having to redue all the fuel lines and AN fittings and crap. custom tuning always costs alot of $ and since im running a strip chip from motorvation u think i'll have a prob? i should make more power than a stocker(even tho they really only mess with fuel and timing maps). if i was to throw this first cam the corvette mild crane cam and the HSR and 1.6's wat kinda power will i be lookin at? and increase over my ratings now?

u think the crane cam and 1.6's will be too much lift for the stock heads? or should i just do the 1.6's and HSR? i dont care about how difficult it would be, i bleed for this car everyday and i love it...
so hp/tq figures with HSR, 1.6's, and first crane cam?
and hp/tq figures with HSR and 1.6's?
thanks for all the help guys.
