what problems from a 9 year old ZZ4?

I am looking to get a Camaro with about 25-30k miles on it. The past few years, it has mainly just sat. It was installed back in '99. Are there any potential problems that I should look for in a motor that is about 8-9 years old, with a supercharger on it? Or should it be able the same as an engine that has been run for 3 years with 25-30k on it?

Hypereutectic pistons, supercharger, has sat mostly for a few years. . .

Sounds like a high likelihood rebuild candidate.

Engine parts will rust and sieze up when they're just sitting like that with no oil. If he rotated the engine either with a wrench or by starting it every so often, it should be good. Hopefully the oil was changed during the time it sat. If not, you're taking a big chance on getting a junk engine.

will they be able to catch things like this if I take it to a shop before purchasing to have it checked out? If so, what all should I have them do?

Maybe. A compression check would be one possibility.

Oh, is this in the humid Houston area?

the humid houston area ... as opposed to the dry houston area? Yes, it is in h-town. I want to do everything possible to make sure this car is fine.

also, what is the longest amount of time a car would be fine while sitting? I wouldn't imagine it would have gone more than a few months without being started up but then again I don't know.

If not prepped for storage, especially in a humid area, cylinder corrosion can occur pretty rapidly.

Was it stored inside, or outside?
