Re: can you rate my setup
We have no idea what you're trying to say in that garbled mess. If you want us to take the time to think up your setup, run some mental math, etc, why don't you take the time to make it easy for us to read?
Also, is this going into a Camaro or a Vette?

Re: can you rate my setup
what is so hard to understand about it? What is it going into? First off why would that matter? Corvette and camaro have almost the same body weight. I was asking for an opinion on this setup of an engine. I didn't know this was a **cking grammer school test. Second did you notice my signature? who said anything about a Camaro? this site sure has changed in the last couple months. I posted the same question on the Corvette forum and got the information I needed. I guess that tells me the difference between a Corvette owner and a Camaro owner The Camaro owner wants to nit pic over nothing while the Vette owners complete the mission and move on. So is that why you guys have a back seat so you have a place for the Grammer **** to sit? I could say more but I think I better stop here thanks for nothing

Thank you 1989GTATransAm Do you know what if anything I would gain with 1.6's? you are the second person to say that to me. The machine shop suggested the 1.5's this is to be a streetable light to light car with a little 1/4 mile but still be a highway cruiser. Yes I am looking for aprox HP and torque and I am trying to find out if anybody can find anything wrong with this setup before it is put together and set in stone so to speak. I apologize for the lame pot shots I took at you guys but punctuation police irritate me ( I renamed it for you ryan91rs)to you guys that are actualy here to help thank you.

Re: can you rate my setup
i am gonna guess 380-400HPpeak at 5500, 430-450ftlbspeak at 4500 at the flywheel
dont bother with 1.6s... maybe 2-3 HP at the flywheel your never gonna miss it but you will miss the $200 for the rockers

Okay, okay, I started this, my apologies. Guess it was too early in the morning for me. (Note to self: No posting before 7 a.m. anymore.)
Those are pretty big port heads, so you'll want everything ready to feed them. Meaning plenty of cam, which means plenty of stall. If you go with that cam, then the 1.6:1 rockers is a good idea. But, 2400 probably isn't going to be sufficient stall for all-out gettin' 'er into the powerband.
Might not need that big of injectors, either. But, try it and see.
Other than that, looks like a solid combo.
And, I promise no more pre-coffee replies - wait, I don't drink coffee. Well, you know what I mean.

Re: can you rate my setup
There have been any number of dyno test that show 10-15 horsepower gain with 1.6 roller rockers depending on the motor combination. I think with your high winding intake system and 383 motor I think you would benefit from 1.6rr's.
By the way there is many a street car out there on the road with 1.6rr including mine. They don't cost anymore than the 1.5's and they can only help not hurt. Remember the adage that "lift is your friend" when it comes to performance.
With the horsepower potential of your motor I see nothing wrong with the 30 pound injectors. In fact I would suggest them.
One other thing I just noticed is your 2400 stall. You might want to up that to at least the low 3000 range. Myself I'm running a Yank SS3600 stall and it is just fine on the street.
Hehehe. One more thing. With the aluminum heads and that cam I would seriously consider upping the compression to 10.5:1. Myself I'm running 10.75 to one with no problems.
Also try to get the quench in the .035" to .040" range. I would not go lower than .035" but you can go a few thousanths above the .040" range. I'm running a .035" quench.

Re: can you rate my setup
Another thought or two.
With the MiniRam you will be winding that motor up. I would seriously consider 7/16" rocker studs if you have not already. Another thing I would look into is 3/8" pushrods. They are not all that expensive and you can get excellant quality ones from Terry Manton and others.
Reason being is you want to transfer the profile of the lobes on the cam to the valves. Any flex along the way and you will lose lift and duration. You want to keep it to a minimum. You don't want the rocker arm studs swaying back and forth and you do not want your pushrods acting like a polevault.
