found a few problems need help
There is a line coming off my intake going to some canister looking thing well the line seemed to melt into the back of my alternator what symptoms would this cause? the second is a have a burnt and melted connection dont know what its to? there are pics inside the thread

I've taken those things out of every car I've ever owned that still had one. But if you must have the charcol cannister, just pull the line off and run a new one.

whats a charcol canister?? so its not going to make a differnece? it was hooked into my intake so i thought i needed it

from my limited understanding the coal canister (the black can) does a few things. I am only sure of one. Extra fuel vapor that is not burned off goes into the canister. It then goes from vapor to liquid state and goes back to the fuel tank. You loose it you have to put the line (the broken one when replaced) and connect it to the line that goes to the tank. Only thing is it's still a vapor and it can sit there and not go to the tank.
I took mine off my 84 El Camino b/c i was exempt from any emissions and it was in the way. My 91 is fuel injected and the computer controls the purge (or release of the fuel) from the tank. I don't want a SES light or anything to throw it off. I'd keep it. You don't gain anything but actually loose, in my opinion.
