I can't be sure from the video. The best thimg for you to do is to take a long screwdriver or stethoscope and listen all over the engine and isolate where the noise is coming from. Then you'll have an idea if it's the top end, bottom end, or just a rattle.

Whew, that's a lot of noises!

I'd start by taking the belts off and seeing if it's still there. If so, it isn't the accessories, and you can move on to engine causes.

Re: rebuilt 305 knocking noise

if you turn the volume down low the knocking becomes aparent seems pretty fast i would tend to rule out valve train

what did you do for the rebuild?

Re: rebuilt 305 knocking noise

bearings
rings
new cam and cleaned the heads also cleaned up the vavles

if i put my head at the back of the engine I cant hear it up front is where it seems to be the loadest and down low nothing really in the rockers.
sounds like it my be coming from the balancer or the bottom of the power steering pump but im really not sure the power steering pump moves around alot because its only mounted on the inner side and not the out cause it used part of the ac to mount too and its not there so its not solidly mounted as i would like but to check it i put a screw driver and wedged it so it wouldnt move as much but it didnt really help and also it leeks but only alittle......

Re: rebuilt 305 knocking noise

If you haven’t done what five7kid said, do it. Back in the day when my car ran I took off my belt because of some sounds I was hearing, turned out to be my AIR pump and I just left it. From what I’m hearing with you it sounds like accessory noise. Still check it just to be sure.

Re: rebuilt 305 knocking noise

put 91 in it.... the car runs rich and i can tell the timing is off i dont have timing marks..... but when the car gets to temp about 190 i have like 8 psi of oil pressure almost in the red at 800 rpm (idle in gear) it doesnt do it really when it is cold but once it gets warmed up it starts doing it and if your just sitting at idle and puch it when it comes back down and dips to about 750rpm you can really hear it but its not fast like a rod knock its slow and inconsitant.... like knock....knock knock.........................knock................ but you really dont hear it driving around untill you stop or let the rpms dip really low....
