Great, now my car is possesed

I was going down the freeway the other day driving back from phoenix and i was cruisin at about 70, not really passin anyone or anyhting then all of a sudden my gas pedal just up and pushed it self to the floor! Without my foot! and i thought i was goin crazy, so i didn't pay any attention to it, like 5 minutes later i took the south exit on the loop 202, which is a nasty off ramp cuz it does like a complete circle, so i slow down to go into it then the car does it again and i almost smacked the damn wall! I need to know what this could be before i die lol I thought of the throttle cable being stuck up but that wouldnt jerk on it, is there somthing wrong with my throttle body internally?

There could be something wrong with the throttle body, but to pull the pedal to the floor is the weird part...you got cruise control by any chance?

Re: Great, now my car is possesed

TThe cruise control could be shorting out. It is usually a PWM signal that sends vacuum to a servo. If it is shorting to a power source it could be engaging the servo at full...

Re: Great, now my car is possesed

didn't think so...these cars have a gas pedal return spring!? haven't been down there in a while...but that makes no sense that it's outta no where that it would drop...master_disaster...check your RPOs...see if you HAD cruise control and someone didn't just switch out the turn signal lever...

Re: Great, now my car is possesed

yea your vin isn't going to tell you what you had for options other than engine and model and production plant, you'll need to look at your "Service Parts Identification" sticker to check your RPO codes, should be in your center console, there is an easy software download off the HOME page that will identify what options you have. If the sticker is pealed off by the previous owner like 80% of our cars were...good luck finding out what you got...i'm still trying to figure out my car.

Re: Great, now my car is possesed

Just look fo the cruise control servo! There should only be one throttle cable connected if you had no cruise. (not to be confused with the tv cable for an auto)

Re: Great, now my car is possesed

Check for a broke motor mount, Allowing engine to rock up causing throttle to stick. Dave
