Re: Where is my Oil Pressure Sensor at?

it should be right above the oil filter on the side of the block. If its not there look at the very back of the intake just to the driver side of the distributor

Re: Where is my Oil Pressure Sensor at?

It goes behind the distributor.

Just get a stock replacement one at the parts store. About $15.

You'll need the little brass fitting to mount it with, if you don't have that. The factory used a specific purpose one. You can duplicate it by going to the hardware store and getting a 2" long 1/8" pipe nipple and a 1/8" pipe elbow (female threads on both ends).

Re: Where is my Oil Pressure Sensor at?

Yeah it's about $15.

Mine was above the oil filter... but mine is stock, yours isnt. And some of the stock ones were behind the dizzy. Im not sure which were where. I think later years got it above the filter.

What mine looks like, I suppose yours will probably look similar. So look behind the dizzy and above hte oil filter. Should be somewhere.

Re: Where is my Oil Pressure Sensor at?

That's not a LG4 car. That's a TBI car.

In the LG4, it's behind the distributor.

All should have the sending unit for the gauge beside/behind the distributor. The one that is above the oil filter, was used for backup power for the fuel pump. If the relay failed, it would send power to the FP, once oil pressure got past a certain point. (I think it was like 2 PSI......)

For the models that have it there (like mine) the switch and sender are integrated into the same unit. I replaced it (and took pics) because my oil pressure gauge wasn't working anymore.

Re: Where is my Oil Pressure Sensor at?

Right; Infernal's is typical of a car with EFI, where the one sensor does both the gauge and the fuel pump functions. The LG4 version doesn't have the fuel pump thing, and goes in that other place.

The 2 holes are actually just at opposite ends of a particular system of passages, so they measure the same thing; just at different places.

There may have been some earlier FI cars with senders in both places, since there's no particular reason that they HAVE TO be integrated; it's just cheaper to manufacture that way. But I can't recall ever having worked on a car with 2. Which is certainly not a claim that there aren't any like that.

But, not a LG4. In the LG4 (and L69), the sending unit for the gauge, is under the distributor.

Re: Where is my Oil Pressure Sensor at?

Turn the little brass nipple arrangement to point it toward the driver's side head.

That's why you need the elbow..... the 2" long nipple goes directly into the block, the elbow goes on top of that, with the hole for the sender pointed toward the car's left.

Re: Where is my Oil Pressure Sensor at?

Then go to the hardware store, and get one.... exactly as described a couple of times above. There's a reason I typed all that in up there.
