spark plug melted
so i pulled all my plugs with my motor today and found that my rear driver side plug was melted. all the other plugs looked brand new. this was on a bolt on LO3 that has run as much as a 150 shot and a consistent 125 shot of nitrous. the ngk plugs are 2 step colder plugs. basically im just curious on what im going to find in that cylinder when i pull the head tomorrow. anybody wanna guess? heres some pictures of the plug sorry about quality its from my phone.

Re: spark plug melted
dude your plug is weaksauce.

you wanna hear some poz stories?
edit: 50+ bottles of 150 shot 170k mile 305 still going strong.
and mine setup looks cooler than yours.

Re: spark plug melted
One thing from the get-go here: DON'T use projected-nose spark plugs with nitrous or boosted applications. WAY too easy to overheat the tip and side electrode under WOT conditions on squeeze/spray. Colder doesn't help if the heat can't get down the side or center electrode fast enough. The result is detonation- yes, bad choice of plug can CAUSE detonation, even pre-ignition, even if the heat range is plenty cold. Standard non-projected nose plugs a couple ranges colder than stock and gapped around .035 are what you want. 'Nuf said on that subject.
Other than that, it looks like you ran it lean and/or got too aggressive with the spark advance. End/back cylinders on a SBC are usually the first ones to go lean. Your pistons will be the next to take the abuse. Back your spark down a few degrees and make absolutely certain your fuel pump is keeping up throughout the entire quarter mile run (no fuel pressure "slumping" in the higher RPMs).

Re: spark plug melted
my nitrous solenoid stuck open.
literally EVEYRONE uses the ngk tr6s as a nitrous plug.
at about 105 mph, my stock tbi pump (170k miles) would drop about half a psi while spraying. timing was at 3* advanced on the 150 shot too. never had any trouble with it.

Re: spark plug melted
im going to replace these plugs with the tr-6s everyone has success using. also this was the only one that went bad all the other plugs looked like they should for a good running motor. i did have the stock tbi fuel pump running over a 150 shot so maybe it ran out of fuel at higher rpms or something. also i ran a 125 at stock 0 degrees of timing. im still just afraid as to what ill see when i pull the head on that side tomorrow.

why are you pulling the head? did you NOT see my plug with a pool of molten metal where the g/s used to be? i sprayed 10 more bottles through the car before i took everything out for the turbo 350 swap.
