Get a book , jegs and summit have them for less than $ 20 and will really help you get started , the torque specs , calculations , end play specs , gaps and clearances are a refrence you can keep forever .

its not to bad to do you need a good book. and take your time..the main thing is a good meachine shop..for the block work..

Not too bad i think putting them back in is more of a pain! The most important thing is CLEAN CLEAN CLEAN make sure your work place and parts are clean as can be, dirt is the number one enemy! You can do it and theres no better feeling than turning the key and all your stress and anger be replaced by the music of a fresh v-8

You'll need a handful of tools, but nothing too outrageous, dollars wise.
feeler gauges, plastigauge, rod bolt boots, ring expander, ring compressor, torque wrench, 9/16" and 5/8" sockets (and that's basically the only sizes you need....). A dial gauge and magnetic base are nice also.
Vizards book on rebuilding an SBC is a great one. Pretty dated, but luckily the 350 chevy is unchanged
