I have gas in my oil...

I have heard that gas in oil can be caused by a fuel pump being bad. Is this true? Or is it from running rich?

Here is the main symptoms:
Strong gas smell in oil

Thin oil

Oil level extremely high.

low oil pressure.

Re: I have gas in my oil...

Yes the oil pump can cause that.

It has a rubber diaphragm; fuel is on one side, the crankcase is on the other.

What you have, is what you get when the rubber wears out.

A fuel pump is like $15 and takes about 10 minutes to change. Not a big deal.

Change the oil too, of course.
