ceramic paint in the intake track

have not done it yet buy I am thinking about it heavily

what if the intake track in the intake manifold and head had a ceramic coating along with the exaust runner in the head

I expect all kinds of naysayers- it seems to be the norm for the people who just do what they have seen others do.

I appoligize for having an imagination and a mind that has to challenge everything

dont hate me

It wouldn't do much, except for take up a little volume.

Are we talking a "wet" or "dry" intake? Since you said "fuel charge", should we assume "wet"?

Problem with that is liquid fuel doesn't burn. Only fuel vapor burns. If you keep it so cool that some of it remains liquid, you will lose power and economy.

bah Five7, you're a naysayer!
Jamon, don't take it personally when your idea gets shot down, you asked for thoughts on this eh?

The first thought that comes to my mind is similar to five7's, and basically why "they" say you don't "polish" intake runners on your heads. You want a rough surface to keep the fuel atomized and help it mix.

An air gap intake is the perfect example of what you want to do. Keeping the air intake cool is a double edged sword. Great for pure race, but on the street you do need some heat in the intake to get correct atomization for idle and low end driving.

Re: ceramic paint in the intake track

ok even if the fuel gets pulled down into the intake stroke it will still atomize on the compression stroke with the heat of the cyl walls

with a hot ign and plenty of juice coming from the coil burning the charge shouldnt be a problem

Doesn't work that way in the real world.

Re: ceramic paint in the intake track

When the intake gets hot, is it from the hot engine air, heat soak through the gasket, or hot oil underneath? I'm guessing the latter two.

Maybe a cheap test, and irreversable, would be to make a block off plate under the intake. Then figure out whether you lost or gained power. ??
