oil fill through pcv

Does anyone do there oil fill through a disconnected pcv temporarily? Both my valve covers were leaking and hacked up from previous owners so I decided to junk them and get replacements. Didn't take into consideration that new covers had no oil fill outlet. I could fab one just wondering if I could go through the baffled pcv with no ill effect.

yes you can if its baffled it may take a few more seconds to drain through. You do not need to blow holes in the covers it is fine alot of high end valve covers dont have a fill hole.

The question I have is where is the engine drawing in filtered air?
The PCV system has the PCV valve in one valve cover and the pipe bringing filtered air into the other valve cover.
If the valve cover has no filler cap then put the oil in where the fresh air goes in- no baffle to fight with.
The only valve covers I know of that have no filler caps are the pre-'69 models that have no openings at all.

Then I would say they ain't done being "fabed" yet. It's about like buying a pair of designer jeans that don't have a hole in the leg for your foot to stick out of...
on the off chance that the guy buying them don't have any feet.

Re: oil fill through pcv

im just showing a possible reason for his post. and i see alot that are solid. but for a street engine u should have a pvc valve on one side and filtered air source on the other i will agree with that...

No, it's more like buying a pair of dress pants that the tailor hasn't hemmed yet on the off chance that you might have different legs and feet than everyone else.

so are you saying your fresh air comes through via an air gap around your oil fill cap? if your going to get snippy dont [ut your heart before your brain pvc hole and opposite side air return have no common place to an oil fill hole three holes versus two (now i understand)
