Re: Toxik's Build
Thanks, I have read the stickies a ton, and I am very used to using the search button.
what does slushyboxes ftl mean?
GOOD NEWS EVERYBODY! If things go according to plan I will be installing the t56 on the 3-22-13 though 3-23-10.
I Talked to a guy on tgo thats about an hour from me that is parting out a 95 trans am and he is being kinda enough to sell me what I need and help me install it!
But I do want a new
clutch/ presure plate fly wheel and pilot bearing .
So who has recomandions for the clutch/pp and the flywheel? I need to order them asap!
If you have read this far you know my mods and I have another vehical for daily driving so I would like something agressive but not that agressive that in the warmer months I'll hate to drive this car around town and on the highway.

Re: Toxik's Build
Slushbox= slang for automatics since they eat up power and make the car less responsive and FTL= for the lose. T56 swaps are definitely the way to go in these cars, and it sounds like things are coming together for yours. Sounds like you're getting a pretty sweet deal from that guy!

The deal is insanely good . I was planning to do the swap by my self in a parking spot but the fact that I am getting help,a place to do it with a lift . And the guy offered is just mind blowingly awesome . I did not know that people still are willing to help put just because.
Now I have to find a clutch asap. I want a McLeod clutch or something good .
You guys have no idea how happy I am about getting my car running again.....wonder if its nice enough to win COTM one month...lol

However, I hate it when people say that automatics have performance "that" much worse than stick because it makes them look like don't have a clue.
The thing that makes automatics have slightly more power loss is mainly the slippage of the torque converter. If you toss in a well built and efficient torque converter this no longer becomes a problem. Also, the torque converter has the advantage of multiplying torque because of the way the stator redirects the fluid flow returning from the pump and actually aids spinning the turbine. Because of this automatics will actually give BETTER performance because mod for mod they will be faster out of the hole every time.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with automatics. Now, I will be the first to admit that without at least a shift kit they are BORING to drive and will never be quite as entertaining as a manual in terms of fun.
However, I hate it when people say that automatics have performance "that" much worse than stick because it makes them look like don't have a clue.

Re: Toxik's Build
It's great to make connections. I got a bonafide crackhead deal on my suspension kit. I got the tokico HP shock/strut and lowering spring kit for $309 shipped when they had a 65% sale and my friend threw it on the lift at his shop and did the front while I did the rear and put in LCARBS. Didn't charge me anything so I gave him a mint condition dash pad for his rock as a thank you.
Working at advance definitely made me connections all over this town. I got the hookup on the paint and bodywork, shops have let me use their lifts, turn brake drums for free etc. Above mentioned friend and I met because he saw my car outside advance when it was worse for wear and stopped in to see if I wanted to buy a front bumper.

Re: Toxik's Build
Right now , my car is a automatic 700r4. It is getting a T-56 with a good clutch and fly wheel. and later down the road I will get the T-56 built up internally. I do not have the funds to build the trans now.
I love it when good deals come along like that.
I am buying mobil-1 synthetic oil and then also mobil one trans fluid this week.
I need to rent a truck and trailer. I don't think my jeep could pull a trailer( unless I am under estimating it)
Anyone want to lend me there trailer for a week end?
What should I do about my speedo???

Need to get busy on putting stuff in like the pedals & such. Things that not dependent on the tranny being in. Especially with your Jeep dead for now.

wait your 87 has a cable drive? mine was electric. in any case i have an electric cluster with the yellow vss buffer if you want it. the oil pressure and water temp gauges don't work but the rest does. just did a 700r4 to t5 swap on my and swapped my whole cluster to cable drive due to budget reasons

toxik...I have read all 8 pages of your thread...so guess that makes about 3 of us in here now. Great job you're doing. Like you...I have been building mine since 2010. Was originally an 87 RS with a V6...now have a built up 350 in it with a carb. Eventually will do the T56 swap as well but before that, I want to do a bigger rear end and better gears. Have to put in some sub frame connectors that will be custom made by a friend of mine and I. He made one so far for his car and it came out excellent. Strut tower bar is in the works too...also being custom made by us.

Thank you for following and reading all 8 pages. It had a long break of being built do to money issues and life getting in the way, but it will get done the right way once.
I guess people just got bord with reading my build thread. Since I'm just asking questions, stocking up on the parts I need and with only a few new pics.
