Re: Toxik's Build
I have Billet Specialties Tall Centerbolt Valve Covers which do not interfere with the windshield wiper motor, but did come in contact with the rear terminal tab on the STOCK alternator. I have purchased an MSD APS 160A One Wire Alternator which will just fit by the valve covers, as the rear terminal is a bit smaller and shorter than the stock size. But still just fits, I am thinking about trying to clock the alternator a different way since these alternators can be mounted in MANY different positions. Only thing is still getting the alternator bracing on the rear to work. Also is this really needed, I have no problem putting it back on, just wondering if it'd be okay without for a little while until I re-torque my header bolts after a nice drive.

Re: Toxik's Build
The bracing was implemented because the accessory brackets are made of poor quality metal and will twist and shear eventually after prolonged use. Whether or not this happens seems to be hit-or-miss. Some folks warp almost immediately, others never have a problem.

Re: Toxik's Build
You can use the aluminum brackets that came on all the gm v8 cars with a serpentine setup. That's what I have on mine. I believe some v6 cars used them too. And you can run it without ac or the smog pump you'll just have to run the belt Ia different way. If you wnt I could send u a picture of how I've got mine ill just need your phone number. I do all my work through my blackberry.

Everyone and their phone pictures, you guys are funny. I am looking to find someone to make me a nice set of brackets like March Performance, with an idler to get rid of these ugly brackets and remove my ac and smog delete permanently. We'll see.

Your gonna pull a fresh engine & rebuild the bottom end?
Quit screwing around with your GenI engine & start a LS build, since that is what you want to do anyways. Thread Starter

So in the next two week my car will be getting the trans done, just waiting on a buddy to use his trailer/truck.
My guy that was going to paint it,moved out to cali so paints going to wait.

I'd go 6-pt with the Seat Saver bars. They even make rear Seat Sar bars for the hoop to hatch floor.

I got the competition engineering kit in my car. Bought the kit and my buddy installed it so there was alot of custom cutting and fitting but overall it was a decent kit.

Re: Toxik's Build
So I found this product called plasti-dip.... its like paint but comes off like latex gloves, and so the past two day when I had some time, I used the time to clean all the caked on brake dust off and started spraying them with some black paint. I did this rather than spending money to have them poweder coated, who know if I would even like pure black wheels too....I will post pics as soon as I get them back on my car.
I also have replaced my door lock actuators, charged my batteir and did alot of small things. I am making alot of progress and I will keep all you tgo-ers uptodate!
wont be able to do any work on the car this week end going to hyper-fest.com over the week end!!!! @ summit point raceway!
Their is more to update I just gotta finish my wheels while i still have daylight.

Re: Toxik's Build
im not saying it doesnt look good, but if it just peels off and you want to give it a try just mess around with it, put the polished lip and center, or vice versa.. not to sound like a teacher, but its always good to give other things a try just to see instead of poopooing them right off the bat, i dont mean that in a rude way i think its me being me curious more than anything. otherwise great job
