Re: Toxik's Build
Hey everyone,
so another update!!
I am going t-56. ...... but I have a ton of questions about it still. ( I've read online170's thread)
What is the best crossmember to go with ( that wil fit my long tubes)
What is the best year to get a t56 from? i have to use an LT1 T-56 or can a LS1 t56 be used?
What should I buy new and what is ok to buy used?
What clutch do people like the best ( or even how do i pick out one?)
Can I use my tq arm or do I need a new one?
What shifter to go with ?
Would it be cheaper just to get a parts car?
As soon as I get a 100% full parts list for this swap I will start buying part. ( dont have the full amount needed yet....but working to get the money)
I want to do this swap smart and right the first time, with good parts( or even the best if i can afford em) that will hold up.
should I buy all the small things fisrt or the t-56?
Thank you all in advance. I am exited if all of you tgo'ers have not figured it out!

^ I have been searching, I just do not know where to look, and get the infomation I need. I constantly am on tgo reading and searching. I've herd ppl say that they use ls1 t-56's but I am looking to do this swap to the best of my abilities and my income.
I do not want to blow this t56 up with in a year. So I am trying to find the proper parts that will work with the my current set up.

Re: Toxik's Build
Other than what I PMed you, I would try to find the console lid and get a rubber boot to keep the exhaust out of the car for when you cut the hole for the shifter. Those are the 2 things I still need to get a hold of to finish mine.
All your sensors from your Automatic pedals will transfer to the 4th gen pedals. I ordered all the sensors from Hawks (which are the stock 4th gen sensors) and wasted my money. I reused all my stock switches. For the T56 itself, try to make sure they don't remove the reverse lockout sensor and such, try to get it as a complete pull out.

Re: Toxik's Build
So I know this thread has died a long time ago , but I do have an update!
I started buying parts for my t56 swap ( lt1 t56 not ls1 t56)
So far I purchased
box from dakota digital , http://www.dakotadigital.com/index.c...rod/prd126.htm
firebird radio pod from junkyard so I can find a 4th gen console.
crossmemeber from hakwks third gen http://www.hawksthirdgenparts.com/pr...6-6-Speed.html
SO the next step of this build has started!
btw im trying to sell off all my extra parts if anyone wants em for a good price pm me so this build can go abit faster!

Re: Toxik's Build
when doing sound deadener if your using the tar pad type make sure to have a heat gun and some sort of rolling wheel like a pizza dough spreader so you can work the stuff into all the little crevices. ive done many at the shop. fairly easy to do just time consuming, measure alot and make one big piece instead of many smaller pieces to cover your floor.

That crossmember is legit. I've had a couple others including some custom fab crossmembers and that one by far has the best clearances all around. You won't be disappointed going T56 either.

Re: Toxik's Build
I've been wanting to go T56 for a LONG time.
I am on a mission to have this car working correctly, and done right. I'll fix everything, and make sure everything has been done the right way.
This is not just a T56 swap.( this is my build! )
I am going to use sound deadiner, a new center console ( 4th gen ) install the rear view mirror with the two map lights(with led's ) instead of the auto dimming mirror that I currently have , installing the ac delete box from hawks, clean up wires in engine bay, and more.....
AND LOOK WHAT CAME TODAY!

The people at MGWltd were very good to deal with with very fast shipping. I took a chance with mgw never herd of them before I started searching on ls1tech for the best shifter for t56's so far it looks awsome...

i get dibs on a ride if im in your state! ive always like the simplicity yet overall badassness(made that up) of your car. i dont know manuals and stuff so i dont have much advice but i know of other people whove done swaps on here and can point you in the right direction maybe.

So The parts that are left on my list to buy are
sound deadiner
t56
bell housing
clutch & presure plate
fly wheel
tq arm mount
lower shift boot
pilot bearing/bushing
tq arm mount.
I am hoping I can find some one parting out a 4th gen so I can get a bunch of this stuff together.
The list is not that big! once I get all these parts I can figure out what else I want/ need

Re: Toxik's Build
You'll want to get the t56, torque arm mount, and bellhousing together and if you have the 1 piece rear main I think you can re-use the flywheel after getting it resurfaced, other than that you will want to use a brand new pilot bearing, clutch, and pressure plate. I've done a little reading up on the sticky, and the Skulte page is pretty informative too. http://www.skulte.com/T56.html

Subscribing for future reference, your car is bad@ss and slushyboxes FTL!

what does slushyboxes ftl mean?
GOOD NEWS EVERYBODY! If things go according to plan I will be installing the t56 on the 3-22-13 though 3-23-10.
I Talked to a guy on tgo thats about an hour from me that is parting out a 95 trans am and he is being kinda enough to sell me what I need and help me install it!
But I do want a new
clutch/ presure plate fly wheel and pilot bearing .
So who has recomandions for the clutch/pp and the flywheel? I need to order them asap!
If you have read this far you know my mods and I have another vehical for daily driving so I would like something agressive but not that agressive that in the warmer months I'll hate to drive this car around town and on the highway.
