So upset my motor wont go in!
My 305TBI has the 700r4 attached.
Ive spent the past 6 hours wresteling to get it in, the motor/tranny are in generally the correct area. But the motor mounts on the engine are giving me huge problems, for around 4 hours, the drivers side is about right, a little beating and it will go in, but no matter what I try the passenger side doesent line up!
I have no idea what the problem is, I tried jacking up the tranny, try to level the engine out, does nothing. Ive tried having the leveler in different postions, ive tried moving the entire hoist in different directions and nothing has helped
If any one is in the Northern Virginia Area, id pay them 40$ to get it on!
I have no idea what the problem is and its extremely frustrating.

I suspect you got one side in backwards, so the tabs are hanging up the engine side mount.

The passenger side mount[engine] gets stuck on the top metal part of the mount[car]. I lifted the motor so both sides werent touching, and tried adjusting the position of the engine, but as soon as i lower it, I run into the same problem.

Is the bellhousing hitting the firewall while you're trying to get the mounts lined up?

Re: So upset my motor wont go in!
Try puttin the motor in first then the tranny. i was always told this was easier due to alignment issues with the mounts

My friend came and worked some magic and we got it on, thank goodness.
It wasent backwards or anything.
Now I just think I stripped the power steering line and I cant remember what wires go to the starter, grrr.

Re: So upset my motor wont go in!
start is very easy, they're all on the same harness and it's just about the only one that can even reach the starter, it will go kinda over the intake down the front of the engine by the pass side head and then run back, pretty easy to figure out because they are ring terminals, there will be one large one ruffly the same size as the possitive battery cable and goes on the big post on the solenoid that the positive cable connects too, the other goes on the small terminal. The same harness should have the connectors for both the knock sensor and the fan switch.
