Future 350 Project

I would like to build a 350 sometime soon with my neighbor, This is a possible parts list, im looking for buget power so if I chose something that may be to much for then engine please tell me. I have a basic idea on where I want this engine to go I just need a little help getting there. The engine I believe is a mid 70's-80's.

Main Idea would be a nice street engine, I want something that will work on 93 pump gas and is quite loud, so a nice cam will be in order here. The part I have trouble with is the heads and intake manifold, I never know what would be good with what so ill put up a list and just tell me what would work or not work to the best of your knowledge.

Welcome aboard thirdgen.org.

About your combo:

Cam - the Magnum series cams are a bit peaky. Fine for something that spends it's time at the max power band, but not so good in the lower RPMs. Find an Xtreme Energy cam with the same duration, you'll make the same peak power but better low-end power. Take a look at the XE274, nice cam.

Rods - only rated to 6000 RPMs. There are better out there.

Carb - Yuck! Get a Holley. A 650 to 750 double pumper would be fine on that engine.

Let's move this to the Tech/General Engine forum. This isn't really about swapping an engine.

Ok I beefed up the rods and changed the cam to the one you suggested. Also just picked out a dual plane maifold that should work well here, same basic operating range as the cam.

The Performer RPM is a good choice of intake.

Re: Future 350 Project

Ran a quick test on Dyno2003 and it came up with roughly 350hp at 5,500rpm and 375 lb/ft at 4,000rpm with 9.5:1. This is a rough estimate using a cam that does match the specs of mine quite well but the heads are off by a bit.

Any way I could get some similar heads but lower price. They are fully assembled wich is nice and for 1,400 I dont think ill find anything better but perhaps your resources and knowledge can pull something up.

GM Fast Burns would be a step up. They have a Vortec intake pattern, but there is a Vortec Performer RPM available.

Re: Future 350 Project

With the fast burns and the new manifold it came out to be about $100 cheaper.
