HELP CAR IS AGGRIVATING ME!!!HELP PLEASEEEE
MY GTA WAS RUNNING PEFECTLY FINE. THEN MY CATALYTIC STARTED TO RATTLE IT SEMS AS IF THE INSIDE IS BROKEN. I KEEPT ON DRIVING IT LIKE THAT AND TODAY WHNE I WNET FOR A RIDE IT TURND OF ON WHILE I WAS DRIVING. I TURNED BACK ON BUT EVERY TIME I LET THE GAS GO THE CAR REVS WENT ALL THE WAY DOWN AND THE CAR TURNED OFF. I HAD TO DRIVE MY CAR WITH THE ONE FOOT ON THE BRAKE AND THE OTHER ON THE GAS. WHEN I GOT HOME I REVED THE CAR AND IT ONLY WENT UP TO 3500/3800 BUT NO MORE THAN THAT. CAR DOES TURN ON WITH NO PROBLEM BUT SOME TIME WHEN I SHIFT GEARS OR EVEN IN PARKING THE REVS FALL AND CAR TURNS OFF!!!
IS THE CATALYTIC TEH PROBLEM OR PART OF THE PROBLEM??? HELP!!!!
MIGHT THE IGNITION COIL BE THE PROBLEM???

Is your caps lock broken? Might want to turn that off next time, its the equivalent of yelling at the people trying to help you.
Now if your cat is making a rattling sound chances are thats the problem. Is it original? What kind of exhaust system do you have? A clogged cat will give you problems similar to what your saying, however, cats usually just hollow themselves out, or at least in my experience, but its most likely yours has become clogged. Did you experience any other problems after you started hearing the rattling? Did you have any type of surging in your idle the past few weeks? Could be the TPS and IAC.

Ok first give us some information as to what condition your car is in. How many miles are on the car? Is the ign system & fuel system stock? If not, then what has been replaced? I am having similar problems (https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tech...ssing-wot.html). I will update my post after I replace my Ign module tomorrow. -Russ

Not really before the catalyic rattled i still drove tha car and nothing happend it was just today that i drove it for about 10mins and will i was on the gas i let go and the car just turned off. i did turn back on with no problmes but i had to keep my foot on the gas otherwise it will turn back off. a littel while ago when i got back home after it coold down i turned it back on and it stayed on with out me having to have my foot on the gas, i left it on Parking and accelerated it but the revs only went up to 3500/3800. i took it for a ride around my street and teh car felt "heavy" when i steped on the gas it didn't respond taht well even if i put my foot all teh way down on the gas teh car felt as if it were being pulled back.

i dont have the miles of the car right now ill check in the moring but my fuel and ignition system are stock.

TPS = Throttle Position Sensor
IAC = Intake Air Controller ( don't quote me on this one, cant really remember what it stands for)

is it dying from a lack of gas? from the sound of it its bogging down, check the TPS (throttle postitioning sensor) then clean and reset the IAC
Check your fuel pressure, check your filter, etc from the sounds of it there is a lack of gas to the motor
id suggest trying a new map sensor if the above doesnt work out i had a similar issue, when you hit the gas it wil hesitate, bog, then die, and you have to keep it alive at a stop with the pedal. If your gettin the proper fuel pressure then you can just cross the pump, lines, FPR, and filter off the list cuz the issue will be in the system, after the ruel rail, oh check your injectors as well

How do u reste the IAC???
The TPS and AIC are preatty expensive
if i clean them with a cleaner like the ones they sell at autozone will it work???

If you want to check and see if your cat is plugged you can unhook the cat. Just let it dangle. Start it up and see if you can rev higher.

Here's a quick idea, If you cat was rattling then broke up and plugged the exhaust, remove an oxygen sensor to see if it gains power.
Basically you would be making a hole in front of the converter for exhaust to escape.
If you gain power again, replace the converter and make sure the rest of the exhaust is clear of restrictions ( broken converter pieces )

I took out the converter and reset the IAC. the car does Rev now but every time i put it in Drive i have to keep my foot on the gas. i can drive it around but if i get to a stop and i let go of the gas the car turns off
. i dont know whats going on with my GTA :@

Did you reset your computer after adjusting the IAC? I suspect that your only problem was the cat. A clogged cat will shut down your engine. Always change one thing at a time when you are not sure of what's going on. You knew your cat was bad to begin with, so change that first and see if things improve.
With your IAC connector unplugged and the computer in diagnostic mode, your car should idle at 450 RPM. After you set the IAC, check the TPS voltage.
