cross section...2.15 sq.in
Flow spec's...306/235

Trick Flow 195 K D
before porting actual cc's....185
after porting ...188

The question is...do they measure with the valve or without?

Or more direct...how do they measure?

Of course, I measured with the valve. (no other way I know of)

The AFR's were unported and the others ported?

Do you have unported data, and flow at lift?

Re: Interesting head stats

What I find interesting is the AFR heads flow as advertised as we have checked.

He posted everything we had, but we probably have some of the head flow specs. The question isnt about the flow specs of the heads, though. The question is why do head makers advertise 195cc heads that only measure 185-190cc's? My guess is they dont include the intake valve in the specs but we posted this question to find out if anyone else knows.

Re: Interesting head stats

Thats strange. AFR will state 195 ccs for the base eliminators and 196 for the comp's

Because I found it very interesting none of them had the cc's they claim.
The Etec 200's had a CSA of 1.77 before porting with flow #'s of 236/193 (Edelbrock claimed 259/204 @ .600)

The SDPC intake was 1.76 before porting and 1.87 after. The unported flow was 227-236....... after porting N/A

I am hoping to get it to 2.3 or 2.5 after it's done (in progress).
And flow #'s of 310-320

Re: Interesting head stats

Update on my E-tec heads......

Two of the chambers were bigger than the rest (on the end cyl.s) & one head was bigger than the other by a few cc's.

I went to Manley Performance and found an intake valve & exhaust valve with more margin and less dish but retaining the same shape on the backside.
I only gained a few grams of weight on each.
That brought the cc's up to match the others, then I milled them to 60cc's.
That got the compression up to 1.6, that was easier than replacing the pistons.

They now flow 270 cfm @ .600 on the intake &
218 @.600 on the exhaust (without a pipe).

All I can say is....shame on Edelbrock.

Re: Interesting head stats

you guys are the brains and i sure enjoy watching the masters - but couldn't you use clay to plug up the holes? it it was wet then all you would have to do it hit it with a hair dryer and it will shrink as it drys and fall out. or you can just wash it out.

just a suggestion from someone who does not really know what i am talking about and admits it.

Re: Interesting head stats

nice of you to start, but you didn't even specify the lifts for the flow given, let alone a proper curve, including low-lift, and not heads that we can't duplicate.
