What starter should i buy?? HELP!!!

Car: 1988 Pontiac firebird
Engine: built 350
Transmission: 700r4 built up to 600hp
Axle/Gears: stock for now
What starter should i buy?? HELP!!!

Okay so i have a 88 bird, it was a v6, previous owner put a 350 in it from a late 70's early 80's truck, i need to know what # tooth flywheel is on there, need this thing running asap!!!!! PLEASE help!!!!!!!

Well theres no telling what flywheel he used. You could try looking at the suffix code and seeing what the motor was originally came from and hope that he used the stock flywheel. You could just remove the dust cover and count the teeth but put a mark or some chalk where you start counting and just go at it. Chances are im guessing its probably the smaller 153 tooth flywheel but i wouldnt count on that unless u were real desperate as after all its just a guess.

Well if your really that desperate you could always buy both of them and return the one you dont need. I mean beond looking at the suffix code and seeing what the the motor used originally or just outright counting the teeth i dont know what else you can do.

Well in thoes years anyways chevy only used 2 flywheel tooth counts the 153 tooth flywheel and the larger 168 tooth. So it has to be one of thoes.

You could always mark on tooth and count the number of teeth on the flywheel. When you reach 153 and still have teeth, you will know what you need.
