Engine Stalls

i was in town today and well the car seems to be runnning a little bit wierd, it will stall if it is in gear at stop light for more than a few seconds, the rpm goes up to 1000 and down to 500 and then sits in the middle and all of the suddle it shuts off, but the car will start back up all fine and dandy, it runs good when u r moving feels like a cylinder isnt firing when going up hill but thing is i just replaced the plugs last year and it worked all good and now this year i changed the wires anddouble checked they were on good and now it runs like this. any ideas on what this would be, by the way im driving a 85 iroc with 305 tpi engine

same thing happens to mine, 89 305tpi, it will roll at 500-600 at stop sign or light. i diagnosed every problem and i just could not find a solution, i just keep my foot lightly on the gas to keep it alive at lights and what not, i keep an eye on this thread tho

yeah i know what you mean. i think its a vacuum leak i still have yet to find. i replaced the cap, rotor, igniton wires, plugs, fuel filter, air filter and done a oil change. i even brought it the pontiac dealer and they checked "everything" and they said they couldent find a source. it dosent do it all the time but when i do get to like 5 mph to stop for a sign or signal, i automatically know i gotta drive with 2 feet so it dosent stall. its annoying and embarassing, it only happens to me about once a week.

Re: Engine Stalls

I had a similar issue, the vac line going to the vac advance had a crack down the bottom side and I couldn't see it - till i took it off. That partially fixed the problem so I replaced all the other lines that I could and ran better - but still did it from time to time.
