Intake Bolts Wont Come Out

well im taking the intake off of my 305. im 3 bolts away from success. 2 on one side of where the carb sits. the other on the opposite side. (my friend managed to get one out).

i didnt have any WD-40, but i poured 3 in 1 around the bolts.

i'm still having trouble getting them off. does anyone have any tricks or ideas?

Re: Intake Bolts Wont Come Out

WD40 is pretty useless. Deep Creep, Kroil, or or PB Blaster are all much better choices. Use only 6 point sockets. A quick whack with a hammer can help free them.

i also heard about that loctite freeze and release and another freezer.

hit the bolt with a hammer dead on?

it somewhat tricky to get to, the bolts are angled and the platform where the carb sits keeps me from getting some extensions in

If you can't get a socket on the bolts, have you tried a box end wrench?

Re: Intake Bolts Wont Come Out

i dont know much about carb inakes but the principle is the same, i recommend new bolts after this and a torque wrench to reinstall.. , if i were doing this, id take wb40, let soak in a puddle around the bolts, then 5 - 23 hours and 59 minutes and 56 seconds later.. id take a propane torch and heat it up, then attempt to take it off,. on my intake, vise grips was used because of a stripped torx head

Re: Intake Bolts Wont Come Out

put some ATF on them. trust me i have done this in the past and it works just as good if not better than penetrating oils.

Re: Intake Bolts Wont Come Out

yes i've tried a box end wrench. but it's difficult to get on because of the formation of the intake. theres a side thats close to the wrench. and when i did get a wrench on one of them, it wouldn't budge at all.

what's ATF? im gonna run to autozone after work today

Re: Intake Bolts Wont Come Out

Do you have the valve covers off?

IIRC, the threaded ends of the bolts are visible when the covers are off. You can attack the threads from this end with penetrating oil, etc. Might be more effective than waiting for the penetrant to slip past the bolt heads.
