Car wont start and ideas?
we were driving the car down the road and the car just like lost all power and died. When we try to start it, it starts up for about 2 seconds and then dies.
Things ive check that work:
Fuel pump has 45 psi
Fuel pump relay works
MAF sensor reads a voltage when car tries to start
Got spark
We think it might be the computer. Anybody have any ideas??

First things ide check is watch the fuel pressure as you start the car even though it reads 45 with the car off doesn't mean the fuel pump can supply the amount of fuel you need while running and maintain 45 psi. Could be a timing issue. Any codes? Computers rarely go bad so the ECM would be a suspect only as last resort kinda thing.

I suspect its your pickup coil, the one inside the distributor, but you would not have spark.
An other thing to check is your fuel filter being it started back up for a min then cut out.
Good luck.

Re: Car wont start and ideas?
well the thing is i watched the fuel pressure and it stayed at 45psi even when it ran for that short time.
I dont think my timing could have slipped because all the marking stil line up on the cover and the distributor housing.
I cheched all the fusible links and inline fuses that i could find on my diagram.
The thing with the vacum hoses are idk where to check i dont have a vacum diagram.
A thing that could ad to that is i did take my TPI plentum off to clean it out in hopes of some more MPGs but i thought i hooked all the vacum lines up.
I have spark so i dont think it is the dributor. If the timing is off the only thing i think it could be is the timing chain but that is highly unlikely.
my car has acted like this before because i tried staling on my when i was driving but it went away.
my friend from a pontiac dealer thinks it is the ECM from what we have checked. But he is going to try and get his hands on a scan tool so we can watch all the sensors and see if any wierd readings come up but if anybody else has any suggestions shout them out im all ears. Thanks

See if it will run on starting fluid. If it does, then it's an injector issue. Check the resistance of all the injectors.

Re: Car wont start and ideas?
tried that too already sprayed it right into the throttle bottle while we cranked the car.
Thats the reason why we thought it was the ecm because it sounds like the computer is shutting down the spark right after it starts for that 2 seconds.
